The Yacambú-Quibor tunnel, State of Lara, Venezuela, finally broke through July 27, 2008 after 32 years of technical, financial, contractual and political problems. The 4.0 m diameter 23.3 km long tunnel will transfer 347 million cubic metres water per year to the semi arid Quibor valley on the western flank of the Andes.
